An Evening With Kevin Smith 2 sees the director of Clerks, Dogma, and Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back in Q&A sessions with fans. The first Evening, released in 2002, saw him interviewed at American colleges. This time around, he's talking to fans in Toronto and London.

Kevin Smith is a funny guy, whether writing and directing films, or talking to theatres full of fans. The commentaries on his films have always been a joy to listen to, as he recounts tales and anecdotes from not just the filming process, but his life as well. There aren't many people who could maintain a conversation with an entire theatre for a few hours, but he's one of them. Being familiar with Smith's work isn't a prerequisite to enjoying An Evening With Kevin Smith 2, but it will certainly help.

It does feel a little incestuous at times, with fans asking questions based on specific commentaries and the previous Evening. They ask that he expand on, or tell stories that he's told before. Although he doesn't retread old ground in his answers, it serves as a reminder that this is largely of fans and for fans and occasionally their attempts to ingratiate themselves with him are a little embarrassing. That said, it's a meeting with the faithful and it was always going to be that way.

If you're willing to embrace a little geekiness, there are plenty of laughs to be had throughout. Anyone who has seen a Kevin Smith film, or two, and enjoyed them will find Evening 2 time well spent.
